Muay Thai Wayne NJ
Muay Thai is a style of kickboxing known for its devastating power and effectiveness. The origins and modernization of Muay Thai can be traced back to Southeast Asia and more specifically, Thailand.
Commonly referred to as the “Art of Eight Limbs” or the “Science Of Eight Limbs,” Muay Thai makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight “points of contact,” while most other striking arts only use two or four.
The modernization of Muay Thai started around 1868, as the then King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) expressed great interest in the art. This eventually led to it being named Thailand’s national sport.
In Thailand, Muay Thai evolved from muay boran (ancient boxing), an unarmed combat method which was used by Siamese soldiers after losing their weapons in battle. As well as being a practical fighting style for use in actual warfare, Muay Thai also gained a reputation for having great success in self defense situations or in Mixed Martial Arts.
Unlike many other stand-up martial arts, Muay Thai Wayne NJ focuses on efficient powerful strikes as opposed to fancy, flashy techniques. This has led to Muay Thai being one of the most popular striking styles practiced by Mixed Martial Arts fighters throughout the world today.
